Dr. Mary Purvis, DVM
Owner, Lead Clinician
Dr. Mary Purvis was raised on a horse farm in Mechanicsburg, PA and has had a life-long love for animals of all kinds.
​
She graduated from Gettysburg College in 1991 with a BS in Biology and has a DVM from Oklahoma State University Veterinary School where she graduated with honors in 1999.
​
She worked as a mixed animal practitioner in OK for six years before specializing in high-volume spay/neuter surgeries. She worked with the Oklahoma Humane Society for 10 years performing over 80,000 surgical sterilizations for rescued adoption and privately owned animals.
​
Dr. Purvis transitioned to PA in 2017 with her husband Bucky and daughter Emma. She acquired Hempfield Animal Hospital from Dr. Edkin in 2021.

As a competent and thorough professional with a genuine compassion for animals, she views every pet as a beloved family member and treats each one with the utmost in quality care.
​
She feels it is her calling in life to help God’s creatures and to help maintain the human-animal bond that exists between her patients and their owners.
Dr. Cora Farley, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Farley is a Lancaster county native. She grew up with cats, dogs, and horses and was an active member of Saddle Cinches 4-H and the Elizabethtown FFA. After high school, she moved west to attend Kansas State University, majoring in Animal Science and Industry with an Equine Science minor. A wildcat at heart, she remained at K-State for veterinary school and worked in the equine, small and large animal surgery, and ophthalmology departments as a student.
She graduated in May 2023 and spent most of her first year working on horses. Dr. Farley decided to join Hempfield Animal Hospital to help ease the heavy case load. You can find her wearing purple and seeing patients Tuesdays through Fridays!
Emma Purvis
Vet Tech II, Owner-In-Training
After homeschooling with Dr. Purvis in Oklahoma, Emma started high school at the Janus School, transitioning to Eastern York HS and graduating with honors in 2021.
​
She is currently attending YTI to become a certified veterinary technician. She plans to continue training toward her veterinary degree as well as learning the unique skillsets necessary to own a private practice.
Emma lives with her family in Wrightsville where they own two rescued chihuahuas, Pixie & Coco, and a rescued cockatiel, Stewie.
